Five-star Trustpilot review from Roberto Moreno, titled “Learning is easy with Bachata Academy Online”: “I want to learn to dance to have fun memories. Future Bachatero and Salsero in the making! If you’re committed and want to have fun learning how to dance, Bachata Academy Online is a must. I have improved so much and feel more confident dancing because of this and I’m hooked going through the lessons wanting to advance more throughout. I highly recommend getting this as a resource to help with your goal of learning how to dance to have fun! If you’re committed to dancing this is a valuable resource to learn and practice.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Monica Greff, titled “Online Bachata Classes”: “The online Bachata classes are amazing!!!! Though I love taking Demetrio and Nicole’s in-person instruction (because for me there is nothing like live instruction) I have found that having the online Bachata classes are a must have for me. This is how I use them. I will take a live class with Nicole and Demetrio. The next day or so I practice what I learned in class and inevitably I realize I don’t remember exactly how the move was done. This is where the online videos are invaluable. I will more often than not go to the online class library and find the video on the move I am having trouble with. Nicole is brilliant at dissecting the move into small bite size pieces. This is exactly what I need since I am not a dancer nor does dancing come to me naturally and easily, so it takes me longer than most to learn new moves. I have found that when practicing with someone else we will often have different opinions on how we think the pattern and lead should be done. Again, we refer to the online videos to get it straight from the horse’s mouth; saves so much time. It is obvious that Nicole and Demetrio are absolute professionals. They are clear and precise with their instruction. They show you various angles on each move. You can ask questions and they will be answered. I was amazed at how much is in the online class, MUCH more than I expected. It truly is an extraordinary value.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Lydia M., titled “High quality learning environment”: “High quality learning environment. Bachata Dance Academy under the cooperative instruction of Demetrio and Nicole at Stevens Steakhouse in Commerce, and also via their BDA online video course instructions. They portray a humble, simple, yet powerful and expert demeanor about them. You know they have spent countless hours training themselves not only in each of their dance skills and styles, but also in mastering the art of teaching and motivating others. They come dressed comfortable yet with a professional flair that communicates a tasteful attraction from which anyone can duplicate and feel at home. I have enjoyed both in-class/person and online learning from them, and am impressed with the high degree of giftedness to share with others what each of them have achieved within themselves, and together as a dynamic training pair. Try it, you’ll love it!!!”
Five-star Trustpilot review from th_Bee Mesi, titled “Bachata Dance Academy Online Course”: “The online course is great! I love how easy they make it to follow along with them. I love that they provided a playlist for me that I am able to use when practicing. They make it easy and fun to learn how to dance Bachata.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Ivan Machic, titled “The best!!!”: “Demetrio and Nicole are one of the best instructors out there! Very kind, understanding and fun! Great place to learn and excel in your Bachata skills! Love it and always recommend it to everyone!!!”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Michael Lopez, titled “If you want to learn the art of bachata...”: “If you want to learn the art of Bachata dancing, this is the place for you. Demetrio and Nicole are the best instructors by far. Their master classes are very easy to follow. You will have no problem social dancing after you graduate.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Mikael DaRosa, titled “Great Bachata Dance School”: “I took all 3 of the master classes they offer and learned a whole lot about Bachata (more than I could have any other way). I learned about the various musical timings in Bachata, the frame and hold concept, and of course many patterns and moves. A bonus was that every class student there also really wanted to learn so it enabled great practice for the men and the women during the class and after at social events. And since I bought their Online Mastery Course as well, I was able to practice those moves there before and after the class with the students.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Nathaniel Upshaw, titled “Exquisite & Precise Instruction”: “If you haven’t taken their in-person classes or purchased their online class, you’re missing out. I’ve taken classes/visited 10 other Bachata spots in Los Angeles, CA and surrounding cities, yet not a single place can top the exquisite & precise instruction at Bachata Dance Academy.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Jules B., titled “Bachata will change your life.”: “Hey everyone! Just wanted to say that this is probably one of the best foundational Bachata online programs out there. Especially if you go out social dancing a lot! I’ve personally had the opportunity to take classes in person with Demetrio and Nicole, and use the online course. What they teach in person is exactly what you get from the online course! It’s amazing! So even if you live in Spain, Japan, Australia, or anywhere in the world, you get amazing quality from this course! Enjoy the process, and get out there and dance!”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Jessica Aguilar, titled “I am real happy I got to experience the...”: “I am real happy I got to experience the online class that Demetrio and Nicole offer. They are very detailed and it was extremely helpful. I love the way they teach and I will more likely continue to take their courses. Thank you guys, it has been a lifetime happy experience.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Terumi, titled “Best introductory Salsa course anywhere!”: “Demetrio and Nicole are poetry in motion. They break down all steps for absolute beginners to understand easily and show multiple angles which really helps. Both before and after they show steps at full beat and also some chaining of moves which is very aspirational and look beautiful doing it! Smooth as butter. Thank you for giving the world this series!”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Vlad Sfatcu, titled “Best bachata instructors”: “Demetrio and Nicole are responsible for making me excited to learn and keep learning Bachata. As a beginner with zero dance experience, I find their online classes easy and fun to follow. The pace is just right to be fun without being overwhelming. It’s also fun to learn when the instructors themselves so obviously love what they are teaching.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Tori Li, titled “Bachata Classes Made Easy”: “I cannot say enough for the way Demetrio and Nicole teach the Bachata Master Classes. Although the information is complex, it is very simplistic in the way it is taught. I can always expect a great learning experience as I learn something new each time. If you have the opportunity to devote time to learning in-depth concepts about dance and musicality, I highly suggest taking one of their Master Classes.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Ryan Chan, titled “The best online dance class I have ever done!”: “I have been learning from Bachata Dance Academy for the past few months and have really enjoyed it! Demetrio and Nicole are incredible teachers and I love how they break down everything, from your weight transfer, to positioning, to hand grip, to additional styling. It is rare that I see dance classes going into so much detail, it almost feels like you are taking a private lesson. I have also taken dance classes in my own city and often times I feel like the teachers just demonstrate quickly a routine and hope you can copy it. But not with BDA, their course is structured and helps you build up from the basics, and slowly add on more and more techniques/moves at each level. I am about halfway through the program and can’t wait to learn more. I have also purchased their Salsa course which has been equally excellent. I fully recommend!!”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Tim, titled “This course has all you need!”: “These courses are everything you need to learn Bachata dancing. Demetrio and Nichole break down every move in such great detail and from different angles. You don’t need a partner to complete the course either. I watch the videos and then go out practicing at dancing events.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Agnieszka, titled “Best Bachata Online Courses”: “Great courses to learn Bachata online: very professional, moves are broken down, so that it’s simple to understand and then the moves are built up with practice. There is also a lot of information about the dance, musicality, variations on moves, etc. I highly recommend these courses as well as Demetrio & Nicole as teachers.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Christina, titled “Bachatadanceacademy is a great way to...”: “Bachatadanceacademy is a great way to learn everything you need to be able to lead and follow both Bachata and Salsa. The moves are explained in a way that will help you learn and remember the moves.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Ned Martinez-Zavala, titled “New to bachata?”: “As a new dancer to Bachata, I cannot commend Nicole and Demetrio enough for their ability to teach fundamentals of Bachata and musicality to complete beginners. They break things down really well for dancers to learn and understand moves. If you’re completely new like I was, use the videos to learn and practice at home.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Alan, titled “I purchased their bachata lesson online...”: “I purchased their Bachata lesson online and have been very happy with the instructions. I’m a slow learner, and busy with regular life, so it’s been nice to have the lessons available online at any time for consumption. The instructors are friendly, speak clearly, communicate well, and show the dance techniques in understandable segments. If you want to enjoy more dancing in your life and feel successful while doing it, this might be a good website to join :)”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Damir Rada, titled “The ultimate experience”: “The course is easy to understand and the teachers are excellent. We never danced Bachata and after both courses, now we dance Bachata and Salsa. We could not believe it, but now we are attending festivals and Latin parties. The course was not too demanding and not at all fast paced. Instead it is very fun and we hardly waited for the next lesson. It was our instructors, they made us love to learn dance with them. We tried with others, but they have a different approach, not to say arrogant, or maybe too confident with themselves and they were showing their ego and ‘professionalism’. But Nicole and Demetrio were something very close to us, funny and they had ‘heart’ in the course, if I may say. Like we were family, it was magic, we hardly waited to see the next lesson, we trained every night. I cannot explain the feeling. We recommend this very much, but mostly for the beginners, who are not confident, afraid to dance in public, try it, you will feel magic. They get under your skin and melt your heart. Magic! Then you will run to find somewhere to dance. Trust me, we were so shy and after 10-15 lessons we went to dance at some bar. We didn’t care, we just danced our Bachata moves we learned until then. We started with the beginners’ part, and we were hungry and continued to intermediate. Afterwards, our excellent teachers started with Salsa lessons, we could not resist, now we dance Salsa too. Not as good as Bachata, because we love Bachata very much, not only the dance, but also the music. No one believes that we learned to dance online! Wow! Thank you Demetrio, thank you Nicole, you wonderful people, you will be always in our hearts.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from West Dittmann, titled “This is where I built my solid foundation as a dancer”: “I have been taking the online and in person dance classes for over 5 years and I have only improved as a dancer by staying on this train. What is amazing about Bachata Dance Academy is that you are always learning new patterns, techniques and styles of Bachata from sensual, urban and traditional, which makes you a deadly dancer in the social dancing scene. I have traveled across the world and have danced in clubs across Europe, Asia and South America and I can keep up with their top tier dancers. If anyone asks me how I learned how to dance or where should I go, I always send them to Bachata Dance Academy because Demetrio and Nicole will ingrain the foundations of Bachata into a new dancer.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Sandro Salazar, titled “Learn all my bachata basic fundamentals...”: “Learn all my Bachata basic fundamentals at BDA online course plus in-person master class as well. All what I need to learn are in this online course! Demetrio and Nicole are awesome Bachata instructors and Salsa as well. I also bought their Salsa online course which I learn a lot as well... Thank you!!! Sandz”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Julissa Plascencia, titled “Wonderful Teachers!”: “Nicole and Demetrio are wonderful teachers. They truly care about and are dedicated to their students’ dance growth. They clearly explain what may at first seem like complex dance moves and patterns. They have created an inclusive and welcoming environment where they are eager to share all of their knowledge. I highly recommend learning from them to build or strengthen your foundational understanding of Bachata.”
Five-star Trustpilot review from Alina, titled “Highly recommend! Professionals!”: “I highly recommend taking online classes with Nicole and Demetrio! They are great instructors and professionals! All the classes are structured, easy to follow and learn; also, classes are detail oriented. If you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced dancer, there is plenty of useful information and techniques to practice and to master.”

Written Reviews From Our Course Members

Five-star review from course member Siva R.: “I wanted a structured course and did a lot of research and I really love Demetrio and Nicole’s way of teaching as they are going into nuances of each and every step. I immediately joined this class as I knew not even a penny would go in vain. Looking forward to learning along with you all.”
Five-star review from course member Timo S.: “I live in Los Angeles. I have taken classes in person from Demetrio and Nicole previously. They are the best teaching team ever! I haven’t been able to attend classes for a little while due to my schedule. Now, none of us can attend, of course, so I wanted a chance to continue learning from these masters! It’s so great that you have put so many of these lessons in video for us so we can review them over and over!”
Five-star review from course member Roger K.: “I registered in your course as I found it from the first second onwards something of the best I have ever seen! A very professional online course, congratulations and good luck on your journey! Regards, Roger!”
Five-star review from course member Liam W.: “I decided to take the full course because it looked very structured and comprehensive. My favorite style is Bachata sensual, but for a while I had been wanting to learn more footwork, so when this opportunity came to develop that (and more) I decided to take it. And I’m very glad I did.”
Five-star review from course member Alan N.: “Hello! I really like Bachata. I started dancing Salsa and Bachata 3 years ago. I saw Demetrio’s videos on the web and the quality was so good that I decided to join Dance Academy. The Musicality & Timing Course opens up new horizons for me, very well done.”
Five-star review from course member Leslie M.: “I found BDA on Yelp and started going to Nicole and Demetrio’s classes at Steven’s Steakhouse and I became obsessed! I also signed up for their master classes and online classes. Because you know, they are just the best.”
Five-star review from course member Jovanna R.: “I’ve been dancing for 3 years where possible. I love going to Steven’s when I visit and I love Demetrio’s and Nicole’s teaching styles. It’s the easiest for me to follow and I am definitely saddened that there aren’t very many classes that fit my schedule up here in Sacramento. Being able to do the Academy online helps me regain some normalcy in my life and also freshen up a lot of skills. By profession I am a veterinarian that runs a hospital here in Sacramento. I’m excited to continue learning with you all.”
Five-star review from course member Angelica R.: “I went to Stevens Steakhouse, I fell in love with how the instructors teach, but since I have no time to take the Bachata lessons I decided to buy the course online and I’m loving it. It is like you’re right there taking the lessons. Thank you guys!”
Five-star review from course member Mayra V.: “I’ve been taking Bachata Dance Academy lessons at Stevens Steakhouse with Nicole and Demetrio for nearly 3 years now. I LOVE both so much and their style of teaching is clear and fun. I can say I’m one lucky girl to live in LA and be able to attend in-person classes, BUT with things being at a halt, having Nicole and Demetrio online will help me polish things I need to work on! Thank you both!”
Five-star review from course member Leticia G.: “I started learning for a little over a year, but the quarantine was hindering my progress. Luckily, I came across some Bachata dance videos on TikTok and I loved the combos that were presented. Demetrio and Nicole made it seem so much fun and doable! When they announced they had online courses, I jumped at the chance and it’s honestly the best decision I ever made! I’ve learned so much in just the few courses I’ve managed to do since I started and I’ve had so much more progress than in my regular classes! Thank you guys for creating this!!”
Five-star review from course member Jette F.: “I’ve been wanting to get a good base knowledge of Bachata for a while now, since I’ve been dancing it only occasionally in addition to other social dances. Found Nicole and Demetrio from YouTube, they seemed to be super professional so that’s why I trusted to take their course. As I have a lot of dance experience already, I prefer to take an online course to practice technique and details at home, without having to move super slowly in a group class haha.”
Five-star review from course member Silvia M.: “I love partner dancing and we found that your course was ideal for our busy schedule. I like the way you both teach and the content of your online course is amazing. My husband can follow it (I waited for over 15 years before he decided to give dance a go). He’s on here somewhere.”
Five-star review from course member Joan C.: “I’m serving in the U.S. Navy, currently stationed in Rota, Spain. I’ve always been fascinated by people dancing Bachata, but I’ve never had much rhythm. I’ve had nothing but time lately due to the quarantine here, so I decided to commit and finally learn to dance. So far, I’m having fun.”
Five-star review from course member Eliza C.: “I followed your 7-days free class out of curiosity and because I have a lover who likes to dance Bachata (and Kizomba). Now I got addicted to the music and movements. Learn me more! Your way of teaching really gets me! I have to slow down a bit, learn basics first. The music lesson you have came in very handy to me now. That’s my guilty pleasure.”
Five-star review from course member Eva S.: “I am happy to have found your course so I can have a little bit of magic at home every time I keep practicing. Hopefully I will find a partner to dance soon!”
Five-star review from course member Robert C.: “Demetrio Rosario, so I’m stationed in Japan at the moment. A couple of buddies and I went out to a local club and none of us knew how to dance Bachata. Many YouTube searches later I stumbled on a few lessons you had, loved the way you taught, explained in a way I could understand, got the mini course and here I am, I’m a believer! You guys are awesome.”
Five-star review from course member Alma R.: “I started with your mini course. I like the way y’all have your course set up. I never felt overwhelmed, it was easy to follow. This is my first dance lessons I’ve taken and y’all have made it very enjoyable. Thank you.”
Five-star review from course member Виталий (Vitaliy): “Thanks to Demetrio and Nicole for the video courses, everything is clear to the student. You are excellent Bachata instructors. Greetings from Russia.”
Five-star review from course member Pika: “I started ballroom dancing 10 years ago and I love the combination of dancing, music and socializing. With my boyfriend I wanted to try a dance that I didn’t know yet so we tried a workshop and after that purchased the courses. I found BDA on YouTube because I wanted to improve my body movements and wanted to learn more footwork combinations. BDA’s footwork videos are so fun and I really like the good instructions.”
Five-star review from course member Kyle M.: “I live in the wonderful Pacific Northwest outside of Seattle. My beautiful bride of 25 years Charice and I joined last year after our ballroom studio had to shut down due to the pandemic. We enjoy learning all Latin dance, but especially Bachata and Salsa, so we were excited to find your studio online, which has helped us keep dancing! We are in the intermediate stage now and enjoy the challenges and progress we continue to make while ultimately staying active and spending time together. Thank you!”
Five-star review from course member Els V.: “I found BDA when I was looking for a good instruction site where I could find the instructions for leaders as well. I am very satisfied with what I’ve seen and learned up to now.”
Five-star review from course member Shimon C.: “So happy to be a member of BDA Online! Joined because my amazing wife is Dominican and loves dancing Bachata, and is really good at it. I’ve always felt awkward and embarrassed since I had some basic moves but am not very good. Excited to learn! Just from the basic steps in the first lesson, I learned a lot and my wife said Demetrio Rosario and Nicole Thompson are amazing! Our teenage daughter is taking the classes too! We spend a good amount of time in the DR (when not in a pandemic) so I want to be ready for going out dancing or even family gatherings!”
Five-star review from course member Lydia M.: “I’ve been dancing for 5 years and felt like I hit a plateau. This online course has been such a valuable tool. There are basics that I’m learning or re-learning. There are more advanced lessons as well to further develop my dancing. It is helping to fine tune and add to my existing knowledge and skills. I will always be a student of dance. I love how Demetrio & Nicole teach. So helpful during this COVID season, so I can still grow. Thank you D & N.”
Five-star review from course member Angelina G.: “I joined the courses so that my boyfriend and I can learn more than just the basics. We absolutely love Bachata but only know basics. We found BDA via Instagram and love your teaching styles!! So excited to get back to dancing!!”
Five-star review from course member Casey J.: “I recently purchased the entire BDA courses and am super excited. I’ve been browsing through videos a bit. Even though I have been dancing Bachata for about 4 months socially/taking classes/private lessons, I decided to start at the beginner level. I noticed everything builds off one another. I’m impressed. You guys go way above and beyond. This will take out all the stress of not knowing really where to start with the courses... now there’s absolutely no reason to feel like I have not enough moves in a social dance setting... I’ve got 50 combos right in my pocket.”
Five-star review from course member Damir R.: “Greetings from Kosovo. My wife, Nora, and I like the Bachata songs and Bachata dance very much. We are very happy that we are learning from the best teachers. The lessons are well explained and demonstrated with fantastic chosen music. I am glad to tell you that we are practicing every night for an hour or two, we are doing our best to learn moves and steps properly. We had little problems in the beginning, since we never danced Bachata before; we liked it before, but thanks to Demetrio and Nicole, now we LOVE IT! We only struggle with the sensual position and we need to practice it more.”
Five-star review from course member Karen D.: “Thanks Demetrio. The 1st time I tried Bachata at a local class I actually got stressed from memorising the steps and felt like a total goofy robot! Having done the BDA mini course, I was totally floored by both of your simple and relaxed teaching style. Bachata became enjoyable and an achievable goal. Now I can’t wait to learn more.”
Five-star review from course member Aga and Michał: “Hello everyone and especially you, Nicole and Demetrio. We are Aga and Michał from Poland. We have just started your course and already, after a few lessons, we are very satisfied. We were searching for a good course for a long time. We are not beginners, we have danced Bachata a few years. Our dancing is more copying than truly feeling the moment in the music. Our basic phase was short and messy. Then we jumped to a higher level, to complicated figures. We missed the most important details of Bachata basics. After many workshops and online courses we finally found what we were looking for. Your course is perfect for us. Your tips, explanations, techniques, instructions and 7 secrets are really fantastic and incredibly helpful. Everything becomes clear, obvious and starts to make sense. We can’t wait for the next videos and more knowledge. And practice, of course. Big hug and warm greetings! P.S. I really loved the trick with head moves while turning.”
Five-star review from course member Frank K.: “Before subscribing to BDA I already subscribed to a few online courses. Despite this I decided to subscribe to the BDA program as it also has a Dominican section and especially is set up by placing a strong FOCUS on the building blocks of the dance itself. Next to your calm way to explain and paying attention to the basics, also the uniform dress code and the background helps to direct focus on the contents. What I like most is when I am once in a while reminded that you can do the same move in a different way, for example comb left, right for follower, leader etc., rather than losing yourself in a pattern. For learning purposes I like patterns which look smooth and quite advanced but in fact are composed of simple basic concepts and building blocks which are smartly assembled and in fact sometimes repeated only with slight variations. In this way I am getting the tiny differences and I also learn to better combine a routine myself without trying to remember patterns where I finally get stuck. I appreciate that you are providing this knowledge in the way you set up the course. In fact most of the samples of the program I have been watching so far really convinced me that you are building a lot around this fundamental approach. Your mini course was also rather convincing.”
Five-star review from course member Jacklyn V.: “I took a couple of Demetrio’s Dominican footwork classes and I felt Demetrio was more well-organized than a lot of dance instructors out there and I loved that the concepts were thoroughly explained. Understanding when you can use a particular step in social dancing is so much more useful than the typical choreography patterns taught in classes and workshops. To be honest, I wouldn’t have signed up for the online class if it weren’t for the stay at home order. I’m used to going out social dancing about 5 times a week. I had to figure out some way to keep dancing. Now that I have seen the course’s layout, I’m really excited about being able to focus on particular areas of my dancing on my own schedule rather than waiting for a festival or a pure Dominican night to come around.”
Five-star review from course member Rob S.: “My girlfriend loves dancing Bachata and I never considered myself a good dancer but I know I can learn anything so I started watching YouTube videos on how to dance Bachata and came across BDA and loved your style of teaching! I signed up for the mini-course and then bought the total bundle on day 7 of the course. I have gotten reeeeeally good at Bachata in the past month and I owe Demetrio & Nicole a huge thank you!! My short-term goal: to dance Bachata with my girlfriend at our friends’ wedding in August. My long-term goal: to sweep my girlfriend off her feet with dancing on our wedding day. (I haven’t proposed yet, but that’s why it’s a long-term goal.)”
Five-star review from course member Breann: “I’ve been a lifelong dancer and lover of Bachata for many years, performing and living in Los Angeles. I’ve seen first hand how incredible Demetrio is as a dancer (although we’ve never officially met) but I’m diving into these online trainings with my non-dancing boyfriend! Wish me luck y’all! Haha. Bachata is so special and the feeling is just so empowering that I’m so looking forward to introducing it to my boyfriend and having a lifelong partner.”
Five-star review from course member Catherine R.: “I’m thrilled to be learning so much with this academy package. I live in Australia in the state of Queensland. I’ve found the fundamentals with videos were so helpful to get started. Now I am up to partnering at group classes and one on one classes too. Loving life with my dancing!!! And Demetrio Rosario and Nicole are fabulous!!!”

Facebook recommendation from Mindful Heart for Bachata Dance Academy: “Took me a couple of years to begin attending classes with the Bachata Dance Academy and when I was finally convinced by my best friend, I was not disappointed. From the moment I walked into class I felt like I met long lost relatives, they have become my dance family and I have been dancing ever since. A great place to come and release from daily life stressors, these classes have been my therapy. 5 stars.”
Facebook recommendation from Nayeli Mizoo for Bachata Dance Academy: “If you’re looking for a great place to learn, look no further! I am delighted to recommend BDA for anyone who wants to learn to dance Bachata because Nicole and Demetrio create a great learning environment. While Nicole excellently breaks down body movement, making it easy to move gracefully and feel good doing it, Demetrio’s charismatic nature entertains marvelously with a great sense of humor and superb musicality skills. This perfect duo explain rhythm well (an almost impossible thing to do), demonstrate movement spectacularly (you’ll fall in love watching them dance together), and inspire me to continue to grow as a dancer. Definitely, an investment that I am very happy about.”
Facebook recommendation from Leonidas Mcmillan for Bachata Dance Academy: “Bachata Dance Academy is the best in LA! If you can find a better place to learn Bachata let me know because this place brought me from beginner to partners asking if I’m on professional teams in under 6 months, and that was before I ever took the masterclasses. Demetrio and Nicole are extremely talented dancers AND instructors who want to teach the dance that is Bachata in its entirety. That means Dominican to Sensual, they know it and can teach you how to do it as well. So if you want to tap your feet to every energetic guitar chord, or roll your body onto a stranger in the heat of the moment, this is the place to learn. Ricky-ticky-ta and don’t stare into each other’s eyes too long before you fall in love.”
Facebook recommendation from Martha Medina for Bachata Dance Academy: “If you want to learn how to dance Bachata, this is the perfect place to go to. The instructors Demetrio Rosario and Nicole Thompson are very professional, patient, detailed, and super funny. My life completely changed since I started taking their classes. They actually care and help us any way they can.”
Facebook recommendation from Jasmín Pañeda for Bachata Dance Academy: “I was really nervous about learning Bachata so I’m glad I ended up here first. No partner is necessary and people in the classes are welcoming and friendly. The instructors make the classes fun, are patient, and guide you every step of the way. On Sundays and Wednesdays there is social dancing after so you can practice your dancing routines with friends that you make in class.”
Facebook recommendation from Oscar Molina for Bachata Dance Academy: “I highly recommend this Academy, I had the pleasure of being part of this. Demetrio is a very talented instructor and he has the ability to teach you the proper way and fast at the same time, he will help you to become a better dancer for sure. I am a better dancer now and I feel like I could dance with anyone on the dance floor. If you are thinking about joining this Academy, it will be an excellent choice!”
Facebook recommendation from Corina Dasilva for Bachata Dance Academy: “Hey there... if you’re looking for a faster way of learning social dance, learning technique, musicality, and performing, you must join the Bachata Dance Academy! It is an amazing experience! The years of experience and the quality of teachings make an experience you don’t want to miss. So join it! You are going to love it!! See you there.”
Facebook recommendation from Jocelyn Campos for Bachata Dance Academy: “Great place to learn Bachata! The instructors are so patient and make every class super fun! Socials are so fun! Everyone is so respectful and friendly!!”
Facebook recommendation from Andy Luong for Bachata Dance Academy: “If you want teachers that actually care about seeing you improve this is the place to be. And they’re also super hilarious joking around during class which makes it even more fun.”

Definitely recommend because you’ll see results!”
Facebook recommendation from Edgar Monroy for Bachata Dance Academy: “5 stars!! Class is super fun and very informative! Worth every penny! Taking the beginner master course and I’ve learned more here in one month than 1 year with other instructors.”
Facebook recommendation from DE Cuellar for Bachata Dance Academy: “This is the perfect atmosphere to learn as a beginner and continue building your skills as they teach you how to hone your basic, to improve musicality and to understand the connection with partners during social dancing. My favorite aspect is how much fun and lighthearted the instructors are in every session!”
Facebook recommendation from Bhavin Mehta for Bachata Dance Academy: “2021 marks my 3rd season with Demetrio & Nicole! I have transitioned from being a novice to being a confident bachatero. I love that Demetrio & Nicole are not only fabulous instructors of body movement, technique, partner work, musicality and etiquette, but also dedicated their life to the art of Bachata. It is so valuable for me to have accomplished dancers as role models. In their classes bachateros are encouraged to express themselves and challenge themselves to achieve new levels of technique. In addition to all of that, I love every class I attend, and recommend them highly!! Bhavin”
Facebook recommendation from Edy Oo for Bachata Dance Academy: “Bachata Dance Academy is amazing!! Pete, Demetrio, and Nicole make it easy, fun and not to mention they do it in a very simple and effective way. They go over musicality, footwork, technique, styling and a lot more. Classes are usually Sunday through Wednesday. It’s amazing to know that the Bachata community continues to grow and we have DJ SooNaasty to thank for the fun social dancing nights. I’m glad to have found these classes. From having no rhythm to catching every music beat when playing my favorite Bachata songs. Thank you BDA. I plan to continue coming to these classes and continue to learn from these amazing instructors. If you’re thinking of taking Bachata classes you need to come here.”
Facebook recommendation from Natalie Jovel for Bachata Dance Academy: “Anyone with even the slightest interest in learning needs to go to Bachata Dance Academy. They have the free class at 7pm followed by their beginner and then intermediate. I’m surprised at how much I learn each time I go. But you have to practice; apply the stuff you learn outside of class, which may be the hardest. I’m excited to see where I end up in a few months.”

Five-star Google review from Nathalie Theiller: “Not first time taking Bachata classes but first time at this place, and absolutely love it. Enrolled in Beginner Master Class, and will continue with the Intermediate Master Class. Master classes offer the benefits of private lessons but in a group of equal number of leaders and followers so you can join even without a partner. Instructors are the best!!”

Five-star Google review from Ana Sanchez: “I enjoy coming here especially as a beginner. I had never danced Bachata in my life before coming here. The instructors Demetrio and Nicole are very kind and knowledgeable. In the Bachata classes you get to learn the steps on your own and also do partner work. You don’t have to worry about not having a partner because you rotate partners. If you want to learn Bachata and have a great time I would recommend taking the class. They also have different levels of Bachata class from beginner, intermediate and advanced.”
Five-star Google review from Antonio Becerra: “I don’t write many reviews but BDA deserves one! I’ve taken their classes and Demetrio and Nicole are really great instructors. The way they teach is manageable, so even though you’re new, you can still catch on and learn some new things. They make the class fun and welcoming for dancers at all levels. I’ve definitely learned the most taking the classes here!”
Five-star Google review from Valerie Rivas: “Nicole and Demetrio are just simply amazing. I have been taking their classes on and off for the last 3.5 years and decided to do their master class. It’s always enjoyable, fun and most of all they make it an environment that makes everyone comfortable. In addition to the classes I take with my group I also join them for Sunday and Wednesday classes. I would highly recommend them if you are trying to learn Bachata. You will make friends, who I now consider my Bachata family, and learn whether it’s to have fun, compete or perform.”
Five-star Google review from James Maliglig: “Demetrio and Nicole are excellent teachers. They explain and demonstrate everything clearly, but also let you enjoy the dancing. They are able to teach both the very beginner to experienced dancers to improve their skills.”

Five-star Google review from Jocelyn Campos: “Great place to learn Bachata. I am a beginner in Bachata and in just a little over a month I have learned so so much! I’m a much better follower! Demetrio and Nicole are so patient and go above and beyond to teach us how to be better dancers!”

Five-star Google review from Jana Matsuuchi: “The instructors are as friendly and as kind as they are talented! They create a welcoming environment for learners of all levels and break down concepts in a way that is super easy to follow. I had never taken a Bachata class before this and always thought of myself as an awkward dancer, but have no regrets in signing up for these classes!”
Five-star Google review from Margarita Mateo: “I love Bachata Dance Academy because it is so affordable! I know some dancing classes can cost a lot of money. The prices are so good and they have free parking. The instructors are great and you can tell they enjoy teaching dance! They go step by step which is extremely helpful. You learn a lot of new moves and skills every lesson. It is totally worth your money.”
Five-star Google review from William G: “I have attended many different Bachata classes around Los Angeles county and by far Bachata Dance Academy is the best. They have four instructors and two different levels (beginner and intermediate). The beginners learn the very basics and learn basic partner dancing. The class also exposes you to intermediate partner dancing with intermediate level movement. I have been attending Bachata Dance Academy for about four months so I am a beginner. My dancing has improved so much since that first day. The class is located at Steven’s Steakhouse restaurant. One price pays for two hours of lessons (beginner and intermediate) but the best deal is the master classes where you can learn everything you need to learn to dance Bachata.”
Five-star Google review from Derek Hoskin: “Bachata Dance Academy has the best instructors I have experienced in Los Angeles. They are genuinely passionate about Bachata and unlike a lot of other instructors are structured and organized in the way they break down the dance and help students learn. They make the classes the perfect blend of fun and serious learning. Highly recommend!”
Five-star Google review from Jose Lozano: “Best Bachata dance classes I’ve ever taken. I drive out from Riverside to attend these classes and don’t regret one second of the commute. Both instructors Pete & Yulia and Demetrio & Nicole are very passionate about what they do and break down the steps so that anyone with no dance experience can understand them. Definitely will be taking more classes here and will be taking friends to try it out. Bachata Sundays and Wednesdays with DJ SooNaasty are amazing as well. Definitely recommend if you’re trying to advance in dancing Bachata.”
Five-star Google review from Alejandra Q: “So glad I finally decided to take Bachata classes and happy I’m taking them at Stevens. The instructors are great and so friendly. The atmosphere is fun and light. Came once to check it out and am now in the master beginner class. Every class is packed with knowledge and there are so many opportunities to learn in class and at social dancing. Love coming here and expect to be a regular from now on.”
Five-star Google review from Jasmin: “If you’re trying to learn Bachata or want to learn new dance moves, I highly recommend this place. The instructors are knowledgeable and friendly and the people who take the classes are very welcoming. I came here alone and quickly made new friends. The instructors break down the routines and really help you learn how to be a good leader as well as a follower. I love that the followers get tips and styling options that I don’t always get with other places.”
Five-star Google review from Kimberly Cernas: “The best place to learn Bachata! Great for all levels. Instructors are amazing and will make sure you understand and feel comfortable dancing. They will also break down the dance step by step to make sure you get it down.”

Five-star Yelp review from Liset C. of El Monte, CA: “Instructors are very knowledgeable and have a passion for teaching the students. Not only do they make it easy but they make it fun. They completely understand that we are beginners and even the person that has never danced before can learn it with the way they teach it. Definitely recommend!”
Five-star Yelp review from Carlos P. of Los Angeles, CA: “Super friendly and welcoming environment! Instructors very knowledgeable and provide so much detail that it is great for anybody that is just learning Bachata or for a more experienced Bachata dancer that wants to improve their fundamentals. I’d say the best part so far is the family environment they have created. Check them out!”
Five-star Yelp review from Mayra M. of Maywood, CA: “I highly recommend Bachata Dance Academy at Steven’s Steakhouse. Demetrio & Nicole are absolutely amazing and patient. I began taking Bachata classes a couple months ago and felt very welcome every single time. I absolutely love the fact that there is an existing mutual respect from men towards women and vice versa. I have so much fun at such a low cost but high quality environment! Keep up the GREAT work BDA!”
Five-star Yelp review from Jana M. of Los Angeles, CA: “The instructors are as friendly and as kind as they are talented! They create a welcoming environment for learners of all levels and break down concepts in a way that is super easy to follow. I had never taken a Bachata class before this and always thought of myself as an awkward dancer, but have no regrets in signing up for these classes!”
Five-star Yelp review from William C. of Alhambra, CA: “I am new to Bachata. So I took the Bachata class at Steven’s Steakhouse. The teachers, Demetrio, Nicole and Pete, are super awesome. They are great at teaching Bachata and breaking down the music, movements and stylings. Highly recommend to come here and take their Bachata classes. People are friendly and fun.”
Five-star Yelp review from Eric K. of Morro Bay, CA: “I went to a class on a spur-of-the-moment decision three months ago and now Bachata is a regular part of my life. I think what separates BDA from other places and what kept me coming back even though I had never done much social dancing is that Nicole, Demetrio, and Pete are warm and caring people and the community of dancers here also reflect that. Their teaching abilities are top-notch, and I feel lucky that I found BDA. Otherwise, I might not be dancing right now! If you think you might want to try, just go once! Might change your life.”
Five-star Yelp review from John S. of Norwalk, CA: “A knowledge goldmine. The class format is now under a progressive structure that allows students of all levels to experience growth and challenges. Demetrio and Nicole bring a refreshing method filled with technique and fun sequences. Feel free to stop by and ask for Pete. Peter will welcome you and introduce you to Stevens and the many options to have you be part of this dance community.”
Five-star Yelp review from Rose I. of Burbank, CA: “Demetrio and Nicole are amazing instructors, they know both how to dance and how to break it down for anybody to follow, which is already amazing. But they are also really nice people. They have super chill energy and are funny, exactly the type of energy you wanna be around when pursuing any hobby, but especially dance. Also they teach the much elusive (at least for me) urban/sensual Bachata because that’s what is happening right now in the social scene. They teach well and make it fun!”
Five-star Yelp review from Amul G. of Atlanta, GA: “I am not a dancer but I am learning. A close friend of mine recommended Bachata Dance Academy and it couldn’t have been any better. This is a super-inclusive learning abode and I am really enjoying it. I came here to learn dancing and now I also have a big family here. Demetrio, Nicole and Pete are amazing teachers and friends. Love you guys!!”
Five-star Yelp review from Maudie L. of Los Angeles, CA: “I’m not compelled to post many reviews but Demetrio and Nicole are excellent Bachata instructors! Been taking Bachata lessons for less than a year and wish I started my lessons at Bachata Dance Academy. If you want to learn Bachata, they have their finger on the ‘Bachata’ pulse! Awesome!!!”
Five-star Yelp review from Claudia C. of Los Angeles, CA: “Demetrio, Nicole and Pete are awesome Bachata dance instructors. They aren’t just skilled in the dance but they are also very knowledgeable and fun when teaching it. I am currently in the master intermediate class and we have learned everything from technique to choreography to ladies and gentlemen styling. Very importantly BDA teachers teach you and constantly remind their students to have fun with Bachata. I love the dance even more than before. Definitely recommend to all dance lovers and anyone that wants to try something new.”
Five-star Yelp review from Lorri E. of Los Angeles, CA: “Love, love, love these classes! Demetrio, Nicole and Pete are great instructors. I can’t say enough about them and how they really help build the Bachata community in Los Angeles, but here are some starters: They make new dancers feel welcome and have classes geared for different levels while still helping people who have been dancing for a while continue to improve and grow their knowledge and techniques on so many levels! Nicole is amazing at breaking down styling for the ladies! Demetrio is fun, and has a gift for breaking down musicality and keeping people engaged! I have only had one class with Pete but I heard him say something that I had never heard before in years of dancing and it really helped my technique! So glad I found these classes!”
Five-star Yelp review from Vic S. of Cudahy, CA: “I’ve gone to several classes at different venues. From the different places this is my #1 fav. There are good teachers out there, but Demetrio and Nicole are awesome! As a follower, I like that there’s an even instruction for both leads and followers. Nicole and Demetrio make sure we look good. Some places tend to focus more on the lead, but here we both get equal guidance. I’m also taking the beginning master class and I absolutely love it. Demetrio breaks down Bachata like it’s an operation. I didn’t know there was so much detail to Bachata. Everything you need to know about Bachata is taught here, I’ve learned that there is wayyyy more to Bachata than an 8 count. Ooh there’s so much more I love about this place, but for sure one last thing is the variety of moves that we are taught. Classes here are so much fun!”
Five-star Yelp review from Stephen S. of San Gabriel, CA: “I’ve been taking some Bachata classes here and there. I started to fall in love deeply with Bachata as soon as I started taking classes from Demetrio and Nicole. They teach Bachata from all angles: basic and intermediate patterns, musicality, footwork, partner-work and a lot more. I feel my Bachata dancing is improving incredibly fast this way. It makes me enjoy dancing Bachata so much more. Besides being knowledgeable, the instructors are also very friendly, funny, supportive and motivating. They are so awesome! They also have social dancing every Wednesday and Sunday evenings. They are very useful for us to practice what we learn in the class. It will make us improve faster. The people that come dancing are very friendly and fun to dance with!”
Five-star Yelp review from Steph G. of Los Angeles, CA: “I really enjoy taking Bachata dance lessons here. I’ve always wanted to learn and this academy was recommended by a friend. I’m glad they have a free half hour basics class before and then the $15 for the beginner and intermediate (2 hrs). I get to practice my basics to warm me up because sometimes I forget. The instructors are really helpful, explain in detail the steps/meaning behind moves and are really encouraging. Taking these classes has helped me with my confidence in dancing Bachata and in general.” Includes a photo of an instructor dancing with a student in class.
Five-star Yelp review from J V. of Los Angeles, CA: “I’m so happy I signed up for the 12-week once per week Beginner’s Master Class for Bachata. I was hesitant at first because I had been social dancing for almost 2 years taking random classes here and there at different venues. I figured I would just be learning the same stuff I had been learning at the other places, but boy was I wrong. In the Master Class, you learn all the technical stuff like musicality (how to dance to the music), how to properly dance with a partner (holding a strong frame and the importance of it), how to lead properly (with preps and safely lead to not injure the follower), how to follow (learning to read cues of preps and holding a frame), styling, dips, more advanced footwork and combinations, and more. With the Beginner’s Master Class, you also get to take for FREE all the basic Bachata classes during the week which are from Sunday through Wednesday. Those classes alone are $15/class and on Sunday and Wednesday will include social dancing. For those in the Master Class though, on Sunday is a $5 entrance fee. This alone is worth taking the Master Class. Of course, if you want to really improve your dancing skills as highly suggested by Demetrio and Nicole, you should keep practicing what you learn in the classes. They also suggest staying for a bit at the social dancing in order to practice dancing with others who don’t know the routine. This will highly improve your dancing skills. I highly recommend taking the Master’s Class if you really want to improve your dancing skills. Demetrio and Nicole are knowledgeable, open to questions and suggestions for better learning, and make the class fun.”
Five-star Yelp review from Jay G. of Long Beach, CA: “BDA is definitely the place to take classes! I’ve taken classes at a few different places but nothing tops this place. When I started with them I had close to zero dance experience, I had only taken a few other classes at different venues but they never seemed to stick. After being recommended to take classes at Stevens Steakhouse I was hooked! Demetrio is an amazing instructor. He breaks everything down for the class and tries to teach the science behind the dance, the musicality side of it! They also have a great advanced class for those with intermediate and advanced skills wanting to learn/practice new moves. This place also has social dancing Wednesday and Sunday nights for those looking to show off or sharpen their skills on the dance floor! If you haven’t yet, give this place a try!! You won’t be disappointed.” Includes a group photo of a large dance class.
Five-star Yelp review from Kristy T. of Los Angeles, CA: “This is the best way to learn how to dance Bachata. I tried a few other social nights and a few other basic classes but none were as good as the Bachata Dance Academy! First of all they have a good program that can take you from super beginner (me) to being very comfortable on the dance floor. It’s not just a class here or there but an actual program and series of classes to get good. I really liked that. I loved that the classes were pretty big, there is always someone to dance with, it’s never awkward because you are stuck with the same partner or no partner at all and also there’s nice energy in the room. The instructor is amazing and so nice!! I felt SO COMFORTABLE the whole time! (Which is saying a lot because I was embarrassed just standing on the dance floor when I started and now I go social dancing all the time and don’t even think about it.) He answered all of my questions and never made me feel stupid for asking and he also went over many of the steps several times until we got it. He is very patient, was way more helpful and caring than many of the teachers I have been to and also very funny! I highly recommend this dance academy for learning Bachata! You won’t regret it.”
Five-star Yelp review from West D. of Los Angeles, CA: “Demetrio is one of the best instructors. What I like about him is that he will take a very complex move and break it down into tiny steps until you can slowly master it. He likes what he does and has a passion to teach it. During the Bachata festival he taught a basic Bachata course which was absolutely brilliant, that I wish he could do again at Que Rico. On Sundays Pete teaches Bachata and he introduces new types of footwork but most importantly he tries to teach you about the basics. For instance he taught us how important it is to always keep count; if you stumble or get lost just follow the count and you will get back into step. Pros: instructors are the best at teaching Bachata. People there were generally nice and welcoming, they give out special dance packages that save you lots of money, they also have social dancing after the classes during certain days. Cons: the biggest negative is that the girl to guy ratio can be brutal. I know they have no control over who comes or goes but I would be so happy if they could find a way to incentivize more ladies to come. Even if they made it free for ladies or really cheap I would not mind since it’s hard to learn if you have to wait two turns to dance.”
